What's new around IRHS
Are your children getting enough sleep
Since the 1990's, experts have been studying the effects of sleep
deprivation on teenagers. With 8 hours of night as an absolute
minimum and 9 to 9.5 as the ideal, experts have found that
teenagers actually require more sleep than their younger
compatriots. Sleep deficiency is even more difficult to remedy
since, as a teen's sleep requirement is increasing, his or her
biological clock is changing. The "clock" change encourages the body to stay awake later intothe night and wake up later the next morning. This lack of sleep affects a teen's ability to succeed both academically and socially in school, as well as increasing the chances of depression and/or developing attention deficit hyperactive disorder.
